Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor, the apprentice will install, maintain, dismantle and overhaul machinery, such as heavy mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
Responsibilities :
- Establish basic understanding of Mechanical components such as heavy stationary mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
- By assisting Journeyperson(s) become familiar with Industrial Mechanics to include assembling, installing, repairing and dismantlement of mill equipment
- Learn various processes of machinery repair, welding, alignment of shafts, pump rebuilds and fabricating
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition
- Demonstrate your willingness to learn and advance in the Millwright Apprentice program by adhering to instructions
- Communicate effectively with other trade personnel, colleague and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
- Display comprehension of environmental risks and hazards. Follow safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training). Conduct daily workplace inspections for accurate identification and resolution of hazards
- Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
