Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Surface Operator
Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site
Reporting to the Surface Supervisor
Responsibilities :
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Maintain proficiency in the operation of Trash Truck, Bus, 966 Forklift, Bull Fork, Tractor / Trailer, Telescoping Forklift, 1T 38 Tool Handler Forklift, 966 Loader, and Bull 45T Forklift
- Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and have the willingness to learn and advance through the Surface Operators progression
- Communicate effectively with other operators, colleague and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
- Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 6 months equipment operating experience
- Commercial Drivers License
- Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Prior mining or similar experience preferred
- Strong team cooperation is required
- Ability to perform tasks with limited direction
- Work safely and follow instructions
- Be willing to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
- Desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks and duties in the Surface Operations department
