Reporting to the Mine Operations General Supervisor, the Surface Supervisor is responsible for Red Dog travel and airplane rescheduling, airport maintenance, providing personnel for loading and unloading of airplanes, concentrator/shop yard maintenance, port site road maintenance, the port road maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties such as garbage disposal, and general yard clean up and organization.

Responsibilities
- Plan schedule and/or direct the Surface group to provide a variety of services to the operation such as road maintenance, supplies and people transportation, and support for the various construction projects carried-out on the property.
- Ensure work performed by the Surface Crew is performed safely and effectively in accordance with established budget guidelines and safe operating procedures.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment by coordinating the work and advising on effective work methods.
- Provide training for employees and evaluate their performance on the various activities performed by the Surface Crew.
- Recommend the hiring of extra employees or contractors to meet changing job requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the areas of industrial yard maintenance, freight, and material handling.
- One (1) year lead hand experience.
- Working knowledge of MSHA Standards.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, self-motivated, with a willingness to train others.
- Highly motivated team player
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications
- Excellent problem solving skills and decision making abilities
- Proven and exemplary leadership skills
