Develop optimal manufacturing processes and methods aligned with product specifications and quality standards. Implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls, and coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements manufacturing processes and inspection methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
- Creates engineering project strategies and timelines, including critical path and project risks.
- Recommends and implements process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
- Collaborates with other departments for product tooling, gauging, and fixtures design.
- Supports creation of PFMEAs, control plans, process flow documents, and related manufacturing documentation.
- Estimates resource requirements, production times, and costs for operational decision-making.
- Provides design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback for all products.
- Utilizes 3D Modeling software to create and/or modify process drawings.
- Supports CNC programming activities.
- Addresses customers' issues and improves product performance, appearance, and impact on the end-user.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (biomedical, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, material sciences) or an engineering technical field is required.
- 5 years of experience in similar manufacturing/engineering position or equivalent.
- 3 years' experience in CNC machining and/or other manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated engineering experience in a high-precision machine shop/assembly environment.
- Experience in CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Solidworks, CREO/ProE).
Preferred Experience/Education/Training
- Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Secondary processes experience (welding, brazing, polishing, passivation, heat treat, assembly) is desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing methods, processes (machining, forging, automation, heat treat, finishing, polishing, material handling, basic machine design, metal fabrication).
- Understanding of GD&T and fundamental engineering principles.
- Good knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and ability to implement Lean and Six Sigma techniques.
- Possess engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in modern CAD software (Solidworks, NX).
- Proficient in CAM software (MasterCam).
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and concepts (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDR 2017/745, CAPA, NCR, supplier control, manufacturing control, design control).
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Control Plans, PFMEA, DMAIC Model.
