Residential Construction - Apprentice Carpenter
OVERVIEW
The Apprentice Carpenter role is crucial to the success of each Tectonic project. They will assist the Carpentry team in executing the fundamental components of on-site carpentry that reflect the Tectonic standard of quality. As such, they are able to perform basic carpentry skills: measure, cut, and nail wood.
The pay range for an Apprentice Carpenter is $22 - $27 per hour, commensurate with experience.

DESCRIPTION
Assist with General Carpentry Tasks:
- Support experienced carpenters with site setup, contaminants, deconstruction, framing, cabinetry, and final hardware trim out.
- Help install doors, windows, trim, and other finishing elements.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and construction plans.
- Material Preparation & Handling:
- Measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials under supervision.
- Transport, load, and unload tools, lumber, and other construction materials.
- Maintain an organized and stocked worksite to support efficiency.
- Tool Operation & Maintenance:
- Learn to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Assist in the maintenance, cleaning, and storage of tools and equipment.
- Follow all safety guidelines when handling tools and machinery.
- Site Preparation & Cleanup:
- Set up work areas, including placing protective barriers and securing work zones.
- Keep job sites clean by removing debris, sweeping, and organizing materials.
- Assist in dismantling and storing temporary structures and scaffolding.
- Learning & Skill Development:
- Observe and learn from skilled carpenters to understand best practices in residential construction.
- Develop knowledge of different carpentry techniques, materials, and industry standards.
- Participate in training programs or workshops as required.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety protocols at all times.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) on-site.
- Report any safety concerns or hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Team Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with team members, taking direction and implementing feedback.
- Assist in coordinating with other trades on-site, such as electricians and plumbers.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding task completion and challenges.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year relevant carpentry experience in residential construction
- Excitement to grow carpentry skillset under Master Carpenter mentorship, grow in the trade, and grow within Tectonic
- Ability to safely operate power tools and hand tools such as: Table saw, Miter saw, Track saw, Planer, Router
- Demonstrate safe working habits and knowledge of safety rules and instructions while performing job functions
- Follow direction of supervisors, while also thinking critically and independently about jobsite needs (i.e., cleaning up when not asked; noting low inventory; re-measuring; etc.)
- Basic math competency
- Clear communication with team members
