About the Role
This position is responsible for working directly with the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager on the implementation and oversight of the environmental, health and safety programs, policies and processes to safeguard employees and the surrounding communities, and to meet all related regulatory requirements. The hours are 7am-3pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with management and support personnel to establish company strategies, policies, and procedures to support the company goals and objectives.
  • Perform Jobsite Safety Evaluations.
  • Assist with managing worker’s compensation claims and collaborate with work comp administrators on complex topics relating to workplace injury management.
  • Administers OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinate and assist in conducting the basic safety refresher training required by OSHA.
  • Perform monthly inspections and maintain documentation.
  • Purchase and provide safety equipment.
  • Perform administrative clerical duties (Logs, Certificates, Forms,SMS, etc.).
  • Conduct Safety/Environmental audits of the facilities.
  • Assist with developing or enhancing written safety programs and providing structure for subjects including Fall Protection, LOTO, Confined Space, Electrical Safety/Arc Flash, Hot Work, Fire Ext., AED, First Responder, Hearing Conservation, Stormwater, Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Ergonomics, Contractor Safety and more.
  • File monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Review current process for safety/ergonomic improvements.
  • Partner with the Training Department on continued safety education subjects and content.
  • Assist with investigation and initiate corrective action when hazards or unsafe conditions are reported.
  • Assist with investigation and corrective action when work-related injuries or illnesses are reported.
  • Supports Worker’s Compensation claim management
  • Assist with performing ergonomic assessments to evaluate ergonomic changes in work practices, equipment or tool design and workstation layouts.
  • Be an active member on Teel’s Safety Committee
  • Upload new SDS to the portal as needed and audit SDS library annually
  • Updates the Monthly safety toolbox talks and safety boards.
  • Assist with proactive safety incentive programs that focus on leading indicators
  • Oversee AED equipment and ensure 1st aid supplies are within compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. All job functions to be completed in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, company guidelines and policies.
What You Need:
  • High School or General Education diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Safety Certificate-General Industry or ability to obtain.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • DOT Hazmat Basic General Awareness Certificate preferred.
  • Working Knowledge of Federal/State regulatory requirements (OSHA,DNR,EPA)
  • Ability to conduct accident/incident investigations and analyze data.
  • Skilled in technical writing skills (policies, procedures, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently, but also be able to take direction from members of management.
  • Ability to demonstrate ability to lead and collaborate within a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training in a variety of settings. (classroom, one-on-one, small groups)
  • Skilled in communicating effectively (verbal, written, listening) with a variety of individuals.
  • Skilled in reading, interpreting, applying and explaining laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in prioritizing, organizing and managing multiple projects.
  • Skilled in use of personal computer and related software applications. (Microsoft Word, Excel, SMS)
