The School Paraeducator/Behavioral Aide assists teachers and staff in providing instructional and behavioral support to students with special needs. This role involves working directly with students to support their academic, social, and behavioral development.
Setting: School
Responsibilities:
Assist in implementing instructional programs.
Support students individually or in small groups.
Prepare instructional materials and activities
Implement behavioral intervention plans.
Monitor and record student behavior and progress.
Support students in developing positive behaviors.
Supervise students during activities and transitions.
Assist with self-care and daily living skills.
Ensure a safe learning environment.
Work with teachers, therapists, and school staff.
Communicate student progress and needs.
Participate in team meetings and professional development.
Report to the classroom teacher and principal.
Interact daily with students, staff, and parents.
Classroom setting with frequent student interaction.
May involve working with students with challenging behaviors or physical disabilities.
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with children, preferably in education.
Ability to follow instructional and behavioral plans.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or higher in education or related field.
Training in behavioral intervention techniques.
Experience with special needs students.
Licensing and Certification:
First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
Relevant state or district certifications as required.
