What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Director/Fundraising Director/Advancement Director position at Teen Lifeline?
Teen Lifeline has been on the front lines of suicide prevention in Arizona for the past 38 years. We work to provide essential support for teens throughout Arizona with our peer-to-peer crisis hotline; suicide prevention education and outreach in schools and the community; our Life Skills Development program for our teen volunteers; and our recently implemented Caring Contacts program that supports teens after a psychiatric emergency. Our vision is that all youth possess a sense of connectedness and hope for their future by working to prevent teen suicide in Arizona through enhancing resiliency in youth and fostering supportive communities.
The Development Director will be instrumental in engaging the Board, the Executive Director and the Fund Development Team in the creation and implementation of a long-term fund development strategy that can sustain and strengthen all fundraising and development needs for the entire organization. They will cultivate new and current relationships to build Teen Lifeline’s visibility, impact, and financial resources; as well as provide strategic leadership, vision, and operational oversight for all fundraising activities.
- Provides strategic vision to and manages all aspects of the fundraising program, identifying growth potential and maximizing fund development opportunities.
- Leads a partnership with the Executive Director, Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and Fund Development staff to design and fulfill the annual fundraising plan
- Oversees short and long-term goals, benchmarks and metrics that reflect growth, specific targets for various areas of giving, and other necessary objectives in alignment with the mission
- Empowers the Fund Development Team in executing the fund development communications plan through innovative and creative approaches, consistent and aligned with the organization's communications strategy.
- Ensures connectedness for Teen Lifeline’s individual donor base through comprehensive individual donor retention and cultivation strategies, providing avenues for donor acquisition, renewal, upgrading, and event conversion.
- Collaborates with organizational and program leadership to create targeted campaigns highlighting program impact and supporting fundraising goals.
- Prospects, cultivates, and manages a portfolio of high-value individual, foundation, and corporate donors by understanding their philanthropic interests and ability to make significant contributions.
- Exemplary people management skills, strategic leadership abilities, and the ability to link the development of people with the achievement of organizational outcomes.
- Flexible, energetic, and independent self-starter with a creative approach to solving problems.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to be comfortable in both a public speaking capacity and one on one.

Position Overview:

- Compensation - Starting salary $105,000, based on experience

- Location - Phoenix, AZ (relaxed office environment, hybrid remote work structure, potential travel to meet with donors throughout Metropolitan Phoenix)
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in fund development in the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record in meeting or exceeding fundraising goals. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team of fundraising professionals.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing, managing, and evaluating strategic fundraising initiatives
- Understanding of social service systems, with particular emphasis on crisis services, youth development, prevention, and suicide is highly desirable.
