The Regional Controller position reports to the Director of Financial Operations holding primary responsibility for overseeing Accounts Receivable and/or Cost/Revenue Recognition partners with practice/delivery and sales team through the management and/or collection of cost and revenue and/or customer accounts while providing day to day direction, leadership and development of their direct and indirect reports (Sr. MOS, MOS, BOA’s and POA’s). In addition, this position is the driving force in the management and collection of customer accounts serving as the escalation point when account issues arise. This requires excellent communication and negotiation skills as the RC will often be dealing with high level individuals at the client and with sales/delivery/practice leadership.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for headcount planning and review.
- Proactively identifies process gaps and needs, creates efficiencies and drives change for effective and efficient regional operations. Responsible for the planning and coordination of efforts for development and implementation of these new processes and procedures.
- Oversees the following functions on either a $150 M AR/ $600 K Revenue
- Oversees accounting functions including: accurate invoicing, cash application, and invoice resolution to payment within terms of the contract and to AR goals. Ensure that cost and revenue capture are accurate and meet the monthly timelines.
- Reviews accruals monthly.
- Escalation point and support liaison for direct reports, field office and customer related issues. Ensures accounts are escalated according to the documented Account Escalation Process by working through direct reports
- Responsible for oversight and planning of teams including review of metrics to ensure the team is adequately staffed to support the business
- Negotiates client disputes and is responsible to approve any write offs.
- Oversees the timely resolution of roughly $3M of unapproved services in order to bill the customer.
- Attends Monthly Financial close to ensure (at minimum) that cost capture, vendor payments, revenue capture are in order.
- Review ensures quarterly GP reconciliation is accurate and makes decisions on escalated issues that impact commissions.
- Effectively builds relationships with peers, FSG, direct reports, leadership, internal/external clients and sales force
Qualifications
Supervisory or Management Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for the leadership and professional development of their direct reports (Sr.MOS, MOS and Associates) managing an average team of 25-30 people. Tasks include managing expenses of team, conducting performance reviews, daily performance coaching, ensuring the team hits required deadlines for timely and accurate invoicing while achieving established goals.
- Holds team accountable to thorough dashboards and weekly business updates to track collection efforts, invoicing timelines and cost/revenue capture.
Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills:
- BA/BS Degree in Business or Accounting (preferred)
- 4 years of management experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to build workforce plans for team accounting for growth and attrition
- Ability to develop a thorough knowledge of business policies and account management practices
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to negotiate with senior level client contacts (legal department, contracts department, procurement, finance, etc)
- Ability to balance team and individual workload through effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills
- Ability to coach, train and develop direct reports
- Ability to assess direct reports performance and identify areas of improvement
- Strong business judgment and negotiation skills
