Position: AUDIO VISUAL SUPPORT Engineer (AV)
Location: 14501 Sweitzer Lane, Laurel, MD 20707
Scope Of Work: Work with video control and distributed systems. Perform installation, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting audio-video equipment and related components. Possess a tremendous knowledge of audio-video equipment with a focus on video conferencing and projection system The AV support Analyst will be responsible for providing in person service and support to WSSC staff utilizing AV systems for events, meetings, and other needs. They will work with on-premise IT technicians, contractors and integrators to troubleshoot issues with these systems.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain AV equipment for studio, live events, and field productions, including video projectors, sound systems, lighting systems, and microphones.
- Support the operation of more complex AV systems such as multi-camera setups, advanced soundboards, and digital lighting systems, contributing to high-quality audio-visual productions.
- Provide technical AV support for on-site, hybrid, and remote events, ensuring seamless AV delivery and troubleshooting issues quickly to avoid disruptions.
- Perform regular checks and maintenance on AV equipment, addressing issues as needed and ensuring systems are functioning optimally before each event.
- Assist with the setup and support of hybrid and virtual event platforms, including live[1]streaming and video conferencing solutions.
- Collaborate closely with event producers, vendors, and internal teams to coordinate AV needs, manage equipment logistics, and ensure all setups meet technical specifications.
- Handle the physical setup, breakdown, and transportation of AV equipment, including lifting and moving heavier items such as projectors, speakers, and lighting rigs.
- Work efficiently under tight deadlines, ensuring AV systems are fully operational and tested well in advance of event start times.
Preferred Experience/Qualification/Knowledge Skills:
a. Education: High School degree or equivalent; associates degree preferred.
b. General Experience: 3 Years
c. Specialized Experience
- Familiarity with AV equipment and technologies, including soundboards, projectors, video cameras, lighting systems, and video conferencing tools. Knowledge of Microsoft Teams Room is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic to intermediate AV issues quickly and efficiently during live events.
d. Skillset
Audio Systems:
- Proficiency with audio mixers, setting up and troubleshooting microphones and wireless microphones, portable audio systems (e.g., DJ kits), etc.
- Knowledge of Dante audio networking for routing digital audio a plus. Presentation Technology:
- Competence in slide projection systems, including projectors and control software.
- Familiarity with integrating AV equipment into classrooms and event spaces is a plus. General AV Setup:
- Experience setting up portable AV equipment for events, including speakers, monitors, and microphones.
- Ability to lift and transport AV equipment up to 50 pounds

Pay: $30,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
