Job Description:
Microsoft’s Point of Sale (POS) solutions are typically built on a combination of Microsoft and third-party technologies, depending on the business needs. Below is an overview of the technical stack commonly associated with Microsoft POS solutions:
1. Application Layer
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce (D365 Commerce) – A cloud-based, omnichannel retail solution that includes POS functionality.
• Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail – Legacy POS solution for enterprises.
• Retail Management Hero (RMH) – SMB-focused POS system, successor to Microsoft RMS
• Cloud-based Custom POS Apps – Built using .NET, JavaScript, or other frameworks and integrated with Microsoft services.
2. Frontend Technologies
• Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) – For rich UI-based POS applications on Windows.
• HTML5, JavaScript (React, Angular, Vue.js) – For web-based or Progressive Web App (PWA) POS interfaces.
• Xamarin / .NET MAUI – For cross-platform mobile POS applications.
• Power Apps – For building low-code/no-code custom POS interfaces.
