What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extrusion Helper (2nd Shift) position at TekniPlex?
JOB SUMMARY
Support the operation of the extruder by assisting the Extruder Operator as needed and required, ensuring the machine properly operates and produces quality materials for the customer.
Shift Hours: 2:45 PM - 11:00PM
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all Tekniplex safety practices and procedures
- Determine amount of raw materials required to complete order and call out materials as needed.
- Operate core cutter and cut cores.
- Check wind direction of each substrate roll.
- Hang rolls on unwind in the correct orientation.
- Remove rolls from rewind and place on skid or in-process rack.
- Prepare raw material splices and make transfers.
- Pump liquids into and out of stations and check viscosity as required
- Insure that all drums and pumps clean properly flushed and grounded before use.
- Properly dispose of extruder area scrap and packing materials.
- Properly assist with a changeover, including blade-changes, hanging rolls, changing resin drums, and more.
- Take proper measure to ensure quality materials (inspect, flag, label, etc.)
- Maintain clean work area; housekeeping as required by GMP practices.
- Maintain all related order documentation to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Maintain communication with fellow operators and leadership team on the progress and status of machine and orders.
- The Company maintains the right to revise and/or add duties in response to business requirements.
- Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful Completion of Reading & Math Test
- Successful Completion of IVO certification training. ( Industrial Vehicle Operator )
- Successful Completion of JSA reading. ( Job Safety and Health Analysis)
- Successful Completion of GMP ( Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Experience with changeovers preferred
- Machine operating experience preferred
- Ability to read a tape mesure.
- Can read and understand material requirements on production order.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to safely operate hoists and perform daily safety check.
- Basic understanding of machine web paths.
- Must be able to prepare splices and successfully transfer from one roll to another.
- Certified to drive a forklift (certification provided)
- Able to read production order/SOP
- Ability to work in a group setting
- Positive attitude with willingness to learn
