Responsibilities
- Lead process development, equipment specification, acquisition, and implementation.
- Troubleshoot machine logic and controls to identify and implement process improvements.
- Support production and maintenance teams with advanced ladder logic troubleshooting.
- Manage change control within the internal QMS (Oracle’s Agile PLM).
- Integrate controls hardware and software into both new and existing manufacturing equipment.
- Design experiments, validate processes, complete testing, and analyze data.
- Propose and implement methods to improve quality and efficiency.
- Analyze and improve the process suitability of existing equipment.
- Draft and revise manufacturing documents, including specifications, SOPs, safety instructions, validation protocols, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop material, equipment, and process improvements.
- Actively participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, safety, and compliance.
- Solve complex problems by evaluating unknown or obscure data.
- Use precision measuring equipment and various tools as required.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Familiarity with cGMP and ISO 13485 regulations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of material testing and measurement methods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent education/experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in regulated environments (GMP, FDA, ISO, USDA) is preferred.
- Expertise with manufacturing automation technologies, including:
- PLC (Allen Bradley Logix5000 preferred)
- Ability to troubleshoot, read, and create ladder logic.
- HMI (Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk View preferred)
- Modify and design new user interfaces.
- Motion Control (Servo Drives, VFDs, Stepper Drives)
- Troubleshoot and fine-tune control loops.
- Robots (Staubli and/or Epson preferred)
- Modify programs and create new paths/functions.
- Vision Systems (Cognex and/or Keyence preferred)
- Design robust vision inspection systems and troubleshoot existing ones.
- Electrical Aptitude
- Read machine control systems from electrical prints, troubleshoot hardware, and update electrical prints for upgrades.
- Experience in regulated environments such as GMP, FDA, ISO, and USDA.
- Knowledge of cGMP and ISO 13485 practices.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).
