Job Summary:
The Sushi Roller is responsible for preparing and rolling sushi rolls, ensuring that they meet the restaurant's high standards for taste, presentation, and quality. This role requires strong attention to detail, a sense of hygiene, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Sushi Rolls: Roll various types of sushi rolls, including maki, temaki, and uramaki, using rice, nori, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients.
Ingredient Prep: Assist in the preparation and portioning of sushi ingredients, such as slicing fish, cutting vegetables, and preparing sushi rice.
Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure that all sushi rolls are prepared with care, meet food safety standards, and are consistent in size and presentation.
Clean and Organize: Maintain cleanliness in the sushi preparation area and ensure all equipment, tools, and work surfaces are sanitized regularly.
Customer Service: Occasionally assist with sushi orders, ensuring customers receive fresh, attractive sushi rolls.
Stock Management: Monitor ingredient levels and communicate with kitchen staff to ensure the availability of necessary items for sushi preparation.
Pay: $20-$24/hour
Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience working in a sushi kitchen or a similar food preparation role is preferred, but not always required.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and ingredients.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent knife skills, particularly for slicing fish and vegetables.
