The Safety Analyst is responsible for the following areas of safety and compliance
Department of Transportation (DOT) regulation compliance and educationOccupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation compliance and educationSafety and Health policy monitoring, education, communication and PPE supply acquisitionIndustrial health (including policy recommendations, education and communication)Insurance claim assistance (including documentation and investigation)Actual job duties may include but also are not limited to the following
Monitors OSHA safety and DOT policy compliance by both employees and subcontractors by conducting job site, field office, vehicle and equipment risk audits and inspections.Conducts, supports and documents accident investigationsAssists with investigating and administering property and utility damage claims in a timely and professional mannerConducts near-miss investigations and makes recommendations based on findingsConducts weekly Safety and DOT new employee orientation (includes topics such as enclosed space, OSHA-10, competent person, DOT road tests, etc.)In conjunction with the EHS Manager, recommends, organizes and prepares materials and conducts ongoing safety, health and DOT education. This includes weekly Tool Box talks, annual safety training, first aid training, Field Audit training, etc as neededManages inventory and distribution of safety equipment / PPE including tracking, calibration and repair of gas monitorsConducts quarterly building inspections for assigned locationsAssists the EHS Manager when needed with audits initiated by regulatory entitiesIn conjunction with Management and the Human Resources Department, prepares and executes employee-related documentation as neededOther duties as assignedQualifications
3 years of construction experience with a proven history of safety compliance, or 1 year of safety-specific position experience, or a combination of construction and safety experienceExperience conducting training in group settings is preferred as conducting training in group settings is requiredDOT compliance experience strongly preferredAbility to read and interpret general business documents; operating and maintenance instructions; procedure manuals, and descriptions; and government regulations such as OSHA and DOT requirementsAbility to clearly write reports and business correspondenceAbility to adapt communication style and approach to effectively interact with individuals at all levels throughout the organization, subcontractors and vendors (both verbal and written) with diplomacy and tact.General computer skills including working knowledge of Internet software; spreadsheet, word processing, and database softwareSelf-motivated and drivenWorks well independently and on a teamWillingness to obtain OSHA and other training certificates, licenses or registrations as necessaryValid driver's license and satisfactory driving recordClass A driver's license with tanker endorsement preferredMust maintain a current DOT health card certificateTravel within the TelCom market 50% of the time is requiredCore Competencies
