Description:

As the Director of Engineering, you will oversee the strategic vision and implementation of all engineering facets related to the development and launch of the IoT Solutions group products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product line management, program management, sales, and operations, to ensure successful product launches. Your proficiency in product development methodologies and deep knowledge of IoT technologies will be pivotal in driving innovation and delivering top-notch solutions to our clients.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Vision & Leadership

  • Define and execute the strategic vision for the IoT product development team, ensuring alignment with company goals and market demands.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of engineers across multiple disciplines including Electrical, Mechanical, FW, and Cloud SW, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
  • Lead the full product development cycle from concept ideation to launch, including requirement gathering, architecture design, prototyping, testing, and deployment.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project outcomes.

Technology & Innovation

  • Stay abreast of emerging IoT technologies, standards, and protocols, ensuring the team utilizes best practices in areas like connectivity, security, data analytics, and cloud integration.
  • Evaluate new technologies and vendors to identify potential solutions for future IoT product development.

Project Management & Resource Allocation

  • Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure efficient product development within constraints.
  • Work closely with the cloud development, product management, marketing, sales, and operations teams to align product development with business goals and customer needs.
  • Coordinate with external partners and vendors, ensuring smooth integration and delivery of third-party components and services.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Establish rigorous quality standards and testing procedures to guarantee product reliability and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Ensure that all IoT products comply with relevant regulatory standards and certifications, including FCC/IC, PTCRB, CE RED, and others.

Stakeholder Communication & Customer Focus

  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with IoT Solutions stakeholders, providing regular project updates, status reports, and addressing any concerns or queries.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer needs and feedback, ensuring that IoT products are designed to meet and exceed customer expectations
Requirements:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field (a master's degree is a plus).

Experience:

  • 10 years of experience in IoT product development.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams (3 years preferred).
  • Extensive experience with high-volume manufacturing.

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of IoT technologies, including terminals and gateways, telematics, asset tracking systems, and related protocols (e.g., cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, GNSS, LoRaWAN, etc.).
  • Familiarity with regulatory and carrier certifications (e.g., FCC/IC, PTCRB, CE RED).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the product lifecycle management process.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience managing diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder expectations.
  • A track record of driving innovation and delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Adaptability to meet the rugged conditions of industries such as agriculture or logistics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSEE
  • Experience in leading the development of gateways or telematics devices.
  • Experience with device management, fleet management or asset management solutions.
  • Experience with creating SoWs and Engineering Proposals.
