Certified Peer Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who have lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges and are committed to helping others navigate their recovery journey. The Certified Peer Specialist will provide support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals seeking to improve their mental health and well-being. This position requires a strong understanding of behavioral health systems and the ability to foster positive relationships with clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and resilience.
• Facilitate group sessions that encourage peer interaction and support, focusing on recovery strategies and coping mechanisms.
• Assist clients in setting personal goals and developing action plans to achieve them.
• Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients in meaningful conversations about their recovery journey.
• Collaborate with mental health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
• Conduct crisis intervention as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients during challenging situations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
• Stay informed about community resources and services available for individuals facing mental health or addiction challenges.

Skills

• Strong understanding of behavioral health systems and resources available for clients.
• Proficient in addiction counseling techniques, including motivational interviewing and crisis management strategies.
• Experience in mentoring individuals facing similar challenges, fostering a supportive environment for growth.
• Knowledge of mental health counseling practices, with an emphasis on empathy and active listening skills.
• Ability to effectively manage crises, employing crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, allowing for clear interaction with clients and team members.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development within the fields of social work and behavioral health.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $16.87 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
