Job Summary
The Nursing Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and the ability to manage nursing operations effectively. The Nursing Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating patient care activities, mentoring staff, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Duties
- Supervise and manage nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care delivery.
- Conduct patient assessments and develop care plans based on individual needs.
- Administer injections and oversee medication administration protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems such as Cerner and eClinicalWorks.
- Provide guidance on durable medical equipment (DME) usage and coding for services rendered.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures within the unit.
- Mentor nursing staff in best practices, particularly in geriatrics and pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) settings.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license with relevant certifications.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of patient assessment techniques and clinical practices.
- Experience administering injections and familiarity with medication management.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining a focus on patient care.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Knowledge of coding practices related to healthcare services is a plus.
