Position Summary
The Summer Education Academy Coordinator provides vision, strategic direction, and leadership for the exploration, design, implementation, and effective management of the District's Summer Education Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Demonstrates the ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, community members and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Demonstrates the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, discounts, interest, proportions, area, circumference, and volume. Is able to apply the concepts of basic algebra and geometry to problem solving.
Reasoning Ability
Is able to read and interpret a variety of instructions and data furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats. Is able to analyze a variety of situations, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.

Position Summary

- Coordinates and facilitates all required tasks to prepare and establish an effectively run District Summer Education program and experience for students and staff.
- Provides leadership and vision for the District's summer student program offerings and interventions.
- Regularly explores options, identifies key areas, and carries out initiatives to increase the District's offerings of summer education courses.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning to ensure the development and implementation of alternative Teaching and Learning programs to align with District strategic goals, state and federal education laws and requirements.
- Works in cooperation with the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning and Director of Instructional Services to develop, implement, monitor, reflect, and promote ongoing improvement in the District's summer program and interventions.
- Ensures periodic assessment of current program effectiveness and success.
- Works with the Executive Director of Community Relations to develop marketing materials for new and continuing summer program offerings.
- Communicates with District staff, students, and the community to increase awareness of the District's new and continuing program offerings.
- Provides training and guidance to staff to ensure understanding of, and promotion of, the District's educational objectives that are achieved through offering a summer education option.
- Works in collaboration with District Office staff to help support the District summer program(s).
- Maintains current, accurate program data and provides reports as needed.

Required Education And Experience
- Valid DPS fingerprint clearance card.
- Valid Arizona Teacher Certification.
- Valid Administration and Supervision Certification
- Minimum three years' experience as a classroom teacher.
- Prior experience with alternative and/or summer education programs.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current trends, research, and best practices related to development and management of alternative student programs.
- Maintains current knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes and Tempe Union High School District policies.
- Demonstrates the ability and desire to provide outstanding customer service.
- Ability to function well under varying levels of stress.
