Summary:
The Audio Visual Technical Director is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of performances, events, and services at Temple Beth Am. This includes creating and updating technical specifications, liaising with internal and external teams, and supervising the production process from load-in to load-out. The role involves managing equipment setup, running sound or lights when needed, and hiring and scheduling production crew.
Job Description:
● Create and update tech specs for internal and external distribution.
● Liaise with internal and external parties to advance production aspects of performances and events.
● Supervise overall production of shows from load in through load out and set up equipment as needed. Maintain a physical presence in all scheduled events from start to finish.
● Communicate set up needs to internal operations staff.
● Run sound and lights as needed.
● Hire and schedule production crew for events and report payroll/request payments as needed.
● Provide technical expertise for internal and external parties.
● Maintain equipment through proper use, supervision, and maintenance. ● Train key existing staff on production equipment where appropriate.
● Program basic lighting cues.
● Create production estimates and contribute to the departmental annual budgeting process. ● Order production supplies and rental equipment including backline.
● Provide event settlement documents in a timely manner.
● Participate in feedback sessions to evaluate and improve the event process.
● Work with a variety of constituents – professional artists, renters, school, staff, clergy and members – and find effective and efficient ways to meet their various production needs.
● Represent TBAM in a professional manner and provide a great experience to artists, renters, staff and members.
● Work with the supervisor biweekly to create a schedule that meets all event needs on campus and maintain punctual attendance to all scheduled meetings, walk-throughs, and events as scheduled.
● Address other production-related needs as they arise in this newly-created position.
Availability:
This position requires work on select weekday evenings, most Friday evenings, and select weekend days as scheduled. The AV Technical Director is expected to be available to meet event needs. All scheduling will maintain a 40-hour work week while accommodating the event schedule.
