SUMMARY
Meet the needs of individual students, campuses, and the district regarding assessment and intervention of behavior concerns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Coordinate and/or develop and assist in the implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans for students receiving special education services
- Collaborates with general ed staff on behavior supports for students not yet identified as eligible for special education, with signed parental consent
- Provide training to parents regarding effective interventions and behavioral techniques
- Assists with planning and presentation of professional development programs for special education personnel
- Assists with planning and presentation of professional development programs for general education personnel as requested by administration
- Facilitates the implementation of PASS on assigned school campuses
- Collaborates with outside agencies regarding supports for students with behavioral challenges
- May assist with social skills groups within TISD
- Contributing member of the Autism team
- Audits, maintains and ensures appropriate PEIMS coding for restraints involving special education students
- Assists in the revision of special education forms and procedures
- Attend Annual ARD meetings when requested
- Train and consult with district staff regarding crisis intervention strategies
- Gather and maintain data related to the effectiveness of behavior intervention strategies
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree and three years experience managing student behavior required. Master’s degree preferred. Experience in conducting functional behavior assessments, writing and implementing behavior intervention plans, and working with students with autism or low incidence disabilities required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing to a variety of audiences including conferences with parents, community service providers, district staff, chairing committee meetings, preparing written student evaluations, preparing written reports regarding program implementation/recommendations, preparing policies and procedures, and conducting staff development activities.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have a basic knowledge of statistics related to assessment.
REASONING ABILITIES
Must be able to determine priority and sequence of events, identify and plan for the needs of students with behavior disabilities, evaluate and implement alternatives to obtain individual, student, staff, and/or district objectives.
