What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Specialist - Special Education Department position at Temple?
SUMMARY: Duties include all clerical skills, ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, to include special education teachers, diagnosticians, etc. Must be willing to be flexible in helping with other duties required of the department. Strong organizational skills are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Assist with preparing requisitions, requests for payments, and travel forms.
- Assist with maintaining records for various Grants, Budgets, and fiscal accounts
- Assist with maintaining inventory, material management of materials/devices, and distribution.
- Support purchasing for the department.
- Assist with maintaining all staffing and funding records associated with the department budget and with all Sp Ed/Deaf Ed Grants, including but not limited to time and effort certifications, annual training for grant paid employees, etc.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of mailed materials, including generating labels and assembling mailings.
- Assist with maintaining RDSPD equipment records.
- Export student data two times a year for verification of eligibility.
- Coordinate SHARS training sessions at the beginning of each school year with specialists and/or related services providers.
- Manage tasks related to SHARS, to include running reports on e-SHARS system, obtaining service providers signature yearly, and checking medicaid consents/updating system
- Collaborate to verify SHARS portion of MAC participant list
- Log and file Student History (PEIMS) forms which are turned in electronically
- Assist in verifying and ensuring accuracy of PEIMS/TISD information per departmental timelines
- Assist in auditing PEIMS information for October capture date.
- Assist in supporting ARD Management System information on a regular basis.
- Run specific reports as requested by the supervisor/director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent and one year clerical experience.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases, and do word processing. Proficient typing, keyboarding, file maintenance, and 10-key skills. Ability to meet established deadlines.
REASONING ABILITIES
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
