DESIGN ENGINEER
Design Engineer works as a team member to improve designs for manufacturability, profitability, performance, quality and customer requirements on new and existing projects.
Coordinating with estimating, new design review, tool design, tool build and production.
Reviewing manufacturing processes and tooling and developing methods to improve quality, material flow and productivity.
Estimating job costs, assessing effective methods or manufacture and communication and teamwork internally with internal staff of management, tooling, purchasing, quality and manufacturing.
RESPONSIBILITIES : Works with team of sales, manufacturing, quality, tooling professionals to ensure that customer project requirements are met.
Train under Senior Tool Designer to gain knowledge of development and design of the creation of gauges, templates, forming dies, weld and assembly fixtures used in wire and metal fabrication.
Coordinate with the Tool Room Manager and toolroom personnel to ensure that designs are produced efficiently and effectively to meet production timelines.

Explain the manufacturing process of how the Tools Work
Utilize CAD software to develop and detail product requirements.
Process, evaluate and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
Prepare or revise drawings as required.
DUTIES :
1. Review part design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans and specifications.
2. Design fixtures, jigs, gauges and other items to support production and meet cost targets for tooling.
3. Utilize CAD (Autodesk) to create accurate, complete and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools.
4. Collaborate and coordinate with toolroom to meet scheduling deliverables.
5. Estimate costs, resource requirements and materials required for projects.
6. Responsible for tool from initial design concept through tool qualification in the shop.
7. Work with shop personnel on developing design concepts and actively engage them throughout the design and development of the tooling.
8. Lead or participate in cross functional project teams designed to introduce new projects, improve existing projects, better the manufacturing process or advance competitive advantage in the marketplace.
9. Monitor and improve processes on existing parts and programs.
10. Ensure that all customer, company and industry standards are adhered to.
11. Meet schedules and maintain safety and quality standards.
12. Provide estimate for the number of hours to design, process, and manufacture and inspect tooling components to support all facets of final product delivery.
