Ten Oaks is a hardwood flooring manufacturer nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of southern Virginia just west of Martinsville and north of the Triad. We are growing and are seeking a Quality Control Technician to work in conjunction with the Sales Manager to ensure that all products meet quality standards.
POSITION SUMMARY
Supervise the weekly and daily quality control systems to ensure quality standards are being met, issues are being identified and resolved. Support ongoing improvements to the system and products. Coordinate and support improvement projects, training and feedback systems.
HIGH EFFICIENCY TASKS
Perform and assist with the daily and weekly recording, monitoring, analysis and corrective action for quality control and systems;
- Coordinate, review and modify quality systems to ensure all processing specifications are met and appropriately recorded;
- Ensure variances are responded to, recorded and corrective actions taken as appropriate;
- React to variances by providing feedback and awareness, illustrating trends, coordinate improvement projects, provide feedback to maintenance and support celebrating successes;
- Coordinate, lead and oversee raw material quality control as required;
- Participate actively in plant trials, new product development and continuous improvement;
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage data collection systems ensuring rigor and reliability of source information gathering;
- Ensure methodology and equipment used for quality control measurement is effective;
- Co-operate with Production to optimize quality systems to be effective and efficient;
- Assist production team with the resolution of day to day problems;
- Assist and perform training/coaching to operators, supervisors and other relevant staff to ensure product quality specifications are adhered to and for the system reliability;
- Oversee and administer the NCR/Claims process as required and ensure effective corrections to the market feedback.
- Regularly meet with other managers to review processes and opportunities for improvement;
- Provide back-up support to the line operators, as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
BACKGROUND
Degree/Diploma in QC/Wood Science or relevant field
EXPERIENCE
5 years in manufacturing/quality control
