Job Title: Electrician
Campus Location: WSCC - Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose: The purpose of this position is to install, repair, and maintain all electrical systems/control systems and equipment across six buildings on campus. Coordinates inventory of bulbs for lighting on campus. Operates specialized equipment such as a backhoe, bucket lifts, dump trucks, or powered hand tools.
Essential Job Functions
Environment & Working Conditions: Constantly being outdoors causes exposure to conditions such as occasional extreme cold, frequent high heat, temperature changes, noise, and humidity. There is a moderate chance of electrical shock, falls from ladders, chemical burns, and bodily injuries from power tools or lifting heavy materials. Occasionally will have to crawl in tight places in order to make repairs.

Essential Job Functions
- Performs a variety of electrical tasks including the installation and repair of electrical outlets as requested. Installs lighting fixtures, motor controls, and air conditioning units. Repairs refrigeration units and electric motors. Inspects all electric and mechanical equipment regularly, including breakers, fuses, and contactors.
- Troubleshoots and repairs fire alarm systems for the different buildings on campus as well as handicap doors.
- Assists co-workers in the repair of HVAC equipment, refrigeration gases, water fountains, sinks, and toilets. Performs routine plumbing duties and maintenance on outdoor refrigeration units. Manually checks cooling/heating chemicals and replaces as needed.
- Diagnoses, repairs, and programs building automation services for companies who install their equipment on campus.
- Performs monthly preventative maintenance, including changing fan belts, filters, and greasing motors and pulleys.
- Changes/troubleshoots VFD (variable frequency drives), replaces and reprograms VFD drives that are used to speed up and slow down motors on heavy equipment.
- May perform other duties as required.
- At least a high school diploma with a technical school certificate/degree in Industrial Electricity or a highly related area of study
- 7 to 11 years of career experience with four to seven years of experience in a related role
- A State Electrical License from the state of Tennessee
- Vast knowledge of the electrical code book and basic electrical functions
- Experience in the role of an electrical contractor or maintenance worker
- Past experience using a backhoe, bobcat, dump truck, and bucket lift
- Works effectively as team member to achieve goals and objectives.
