Job Title : Grounds Maintenance Worker
Campus Location : WSCC - Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a "home" location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose : The incumbent is responsible for work being performed in a variety of skilled tasks as they relate to landscape and grounds maintenance. Walters State Facilities Management, Landscape and Grounds Services is responsible for providing a safe and properly maintained landscape by integrating landscape design and maintenance.
Essential Job Functions :
- Perform cutting crass, trimming, pruning shrubs and trees, planting, watering flowers as well as a variety of other tasks associated with the maintenance of grounds and landscaping.
- Operate various equipment in the performance of duties such as commercial mowers, tractors, skid steer loaders, forklifts, trenchers, blowers and towing trailers.
- Assist the Supervisor in landscape design, procuring plants, materials, for landscape projects.
- Responsible for cleanliness of parking lot areas, sidewalks, building exteriors and will provide a clean, safe, attractive and functional outdoor campus. Includes use of leaf blowers, hand tools, etc.
- Provide assistance for special events, such as set ups, moving furniture, equipment, and college and community functions.
- May perform other duties as assigned.

Leadership & Supervisory : The position is responsible for resource management, coordination, & task completion. The position operates with moderate supervision, with most tasks being somewhat varied. One's immediate supervisor is readily accessible for consultation, though familiar work is expected to be performed with only moderate supervision. Periodic checks on progress and conformance with expectations will occur.
Environment & Working Conditions : Frequent exposure to extreme heat, humidity, noise, and temperature changes. Occasional exposure to extreme cold. Due to the nature of the position, bodily injury could occur, including damage from flying debris or hearing damage.
