Job Summary
The High School Initiatives Specialist is responsible for coordinating the College's Local Dual Credit offering. Assists with Dual Enrollment and Middle College programs. Serves as a resource to currently enrolled and prospective students, their parents and high schools. This position reports to the Director of High School Initiatives.
Job Duties
- Coordinates Local Dual Credit offering throughout the College's service area.
- Fosters positive and cooperative relationships with high school counselors by maintaining open and consistent communication.
- Provides guidance to students, parents, high school counselors and contacts regarding the admissions process, including the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant and Middle College Scholarship.
- Knowledgeable of academic major pathways that lead to credential and degree completion to create individual student plans in conjunction with high schools.
- Monitors student progress to ensure they meet the requirements of the programs.
- Assists with creating presentations that educate about JSCC's Dual Enrollment, Middle College and Local Dual Credit opportunities.
- Assists with planning and coordination of events, activities, and meetings with high schools, students, parents, and Jackson State.
- Participates in high school visits, college and career fairs, Open House, and other events.
- Maintains Local Dual Credit, Dual Enrollment and Middle College procedures according to College and TBR policies and guidelines.
- Maintains a working knowledge of institutional and federal policies as they apply to student services (e.g., Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Americans with Disabilities Act).
- Communicates professionally and tactfully with all members of the JSCC community.
- Represents the College when needed at campus and community events.
- Serves on committees as needed and performs other duties directly related to High School Initiatives as assigned by supervisor.

Strong initiative and ability to work effectively in groups and independently. Possesses organizational skills and the ability to manage and execute multiple projects and priorities.
Pay Rate : $47,031 - $58,788 (Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.)
