What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-time Welding Instructor position at Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Harriman?
Teaching high school and adult students in the Welding Technology program at the main campus. Instructors must comply with all TBR policies while demonstrating effective teaching methods. All faculty must assist with record keeping and act as liaisons for student certification opportunities.
Acceptable Credentials Include:
AWS Certifications or other welding certifications. A TCAT graduate is preferred, and a High School Diploma is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of (3) years’ successful employment as a welder
- Must be proficient in general SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes. General knowledge of plate and pipe welding procedures for all three functions. Be familiar with carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless metals
- Must be proficient in measurement, layout, and blueprint reading
- Good oral and written communication and excellent organizational and planning skills are necessary. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, general public, and business and industry
- Teaching experience is preferred. Experience that will lead to effective lesson planning, evaluation of student achievement, and maintaining student files is preferred. `
- Must have basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook preferred.

- Possess sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Must commit to remain current in Industry trends
- Meet institutional and reporting deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
- Ability to travel; local high schools and all TCAT-Harriman campuses, other TCAT campuses, and Industry sites.
Salary:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and by the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
