Marketing & Event Specialist

Position Purpose : The primary purpose for this position is to promote the Tennessee Lottery to retailers, players and the general public at large. Duties include but are not limited to : planning and coordinating special events, in-store promotions, player rewards program elements and performing additional tasks as assigned by Director of Marketing &Special Events.Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities : The following duties are normal for this job and should not be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

Other duties may be required and assigned.Assist in the research, planning and execution of all special events, and fulfills sponsorship elements that include an onsite activation componentAssists in planning launch activities of new games and milestone eventsEstablishes contact and coordinates activities with district office personnel, retailers and external events staffGenerates memos and letters via appropriate computer programsCoordinates staff activities at special events and in-store promotionsTracks expensesCompiles information and completes post event recap of special eventsFulfills premium item requestsManages the premium item inventoryPrepares, set up and tear down for events; loading and unloading vans and trucks; assembly and dismantling tents and special events vehiclesSome evening, weekend, and overnight travel requiredResponds to questions, complaints and requests for information by email, telephone or in person from citizens, employees, etc.Answers telephone utilizing accepted format; provides information, advice and guidance; takes and relays messages and / or directs calls to appropriate personnelPrepares, maintains and updates files and logs following prescribed methodsAssists in managing TELs player rewards program, including winner verification, prize fulfillment and program marketing effortsResearches premium item ideas and writes premium item Invitation to Bid (ITB)Manages a calendar of events and sponsorships for the departmentServes as lead for all logistical requirements at events as well as ensuring the integrity of our brand and fulfillment of all contractual elements in sponsor contractsPrepares timely progress reports on the status of all assigned projectsStrong ability to work as part of a teamExcellent communication skills and demonstrated problem solverEducation and / or Experience : High School Diploma (or GED) is required. Bachelors degree in public relations, Advertising, Journalism, Marketing, or Business preferred.One to three years or more of special events planning or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. At least two years of experience working with sponsorships, special events or promotions is preferred. A valid Tennessee drivers license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record is required. Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.Other Qualifications : Must be able to travel intra-state for consecutive days using company vehicle. Must maintain a valid Tennessee Drivers License at all times.Must have excellent customer service skills.Physical Demands : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
