Work on cutting-edge research in nanomanufacturing and functional nanomaterials.

Essential Functions
Fabricate nanomaterials (e.g., inorganic/polymeric composites and quantum materials) using techniques including pulsed laser deposition (PLD), sputtering, electron-beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD), electrohydrodynamic deposition (EHD), etc.
Characterize the developed materials using structural (XRD, SEM, TEM), thermal, and optical methods, as well as advanced laser spectroscopy.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to externally funded projects.
Publish research findings and assist in preparing research proposals.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or related fields.
Expertise in physical deposition methods (such as PLD, Sputtering, PVD, and/or EHD).
Hands-on experience in fabrication and characterization of nanostructured composites and quantum materials.
Proficiency in characterization instrumentation, including structural, thermal, or optical techniques, and laser spectroscopy.
Strong background in materials physics and chemistry preferred.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and work in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent communication and scientific writing skills.
Proven track record of independent research, creativity, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong background in materials physics and chemistry preferred. A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals is preferred. A desire to substantively participate in external proposal writing is preferred.
Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Compensation And Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time grant funded position; its continuation is contingent upon satisfactory performance and future funding. Initial appointment will be for one year. Benefits Information
Tennessee Tech offers a competitive benefits package. Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
