What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Facilities Engineering position at Tennessee Tech University?
Essential Functions
Initiate and maintain an asset management strategy for critical facility and infrastructure components across the campus in order to prioritize limited facility maintenance funding and prioritize in-house work execution. This includes, but is not limited to, the following :
a) Identifying potential improvements associated with building infrastructure systems
b) Assist with creation and refinement of facilities standard operating procedures and policies
c) Introduction of maintenance and reliability principles and practices
Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System to perform trend analysis related to preventive and corrective maintenance activities
a) Develop and implement response matrixes to prioritize work order requests and measure efficiency of maintenance execution of work orders
b) Initiate preventive maintenance work instruction development and continuous refinement
c) Collaborate with Capital Project department to identify newly installed building system assets and infrastructure and include them in the campus asset management strategy in order to be PM'd effectively, and collaborate with the Director of Maintenance to implement the recommended preventative maintenance plan.
Participate in performing and documenting facility and infrastructure assessments in order to prioritize repair and maintenance efforts and funding resources
Participate in Capital Project Design reviews for new construction and renovation projects
Assist with creation and refinement of standard operating procedures and policies to ensure transparency of Facilities and Business Services policies and procedures for both internal and external customers
Consult with departments that are in the planning stages of pursuing grants that, if awarded, will require facility and / or infrastructure modifications
Collaborate with Capital Project department to expand and continuously refine campus construction standards and guidelines
Assist in-house work force with minor design recommendations
Minimum Qualifications
ABET Accredited Engineering Degree required preferably in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical. Minimum of five years directly related work experience. Demonstrated project leadership experience. Valid Tennessee Driver's License required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering Management. Previous experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System and respective data analysis. Previous experience with preventive maintenance program for educational or industrial complexes. Experience with building infrastructure analysis and assessments. Familiarity with Building Automation Systems for educational or industrial complexes.
Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. - 3 : 30 p.m. Requires the ability and willingness to work unscheduled and irregular hours, as necessary, until the demands of the job are met. The position is required to be on-call twenty-four (24) hours daily, 365 days per year.
