Duties:
Trainees are expected to satisfactorily complete all elements of the program in accordance with the Joint Training Plan (JTP) and Appendix 12 of the JTP. This program is an up or out program and satisfactory progression is required to remain in the training program.
The trainee will perform combined cycle plant operations duties and predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance work for which they are qualified during the training program. Trainees will be required to rotate among various work assignments they can safely perform. Training will be divided among the classroom, on the job training, and in performance of assigned tasks. Trainees will be required to maintain equipment, tools, and site in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
Trainees may be required to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required by TVA.
Trainees must become accredited to perform switching and tagging duties.
Trainees may be temporarily assigned to other work locations. Travel to other sites will be required.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Two-year technical degree or equivalent from a regional accredited educational institute. Equivalency is defined in Appendix 31 of the JTP. Degree is consistent with position being pursued.
Must be an industrial maintenance electrician, instrument mechanic who has completed senior instrument mechanic training or equivalent, an instrument mechanic with three years experience in classification, a fully qualified Unit Operator, an AUO with three years experience in classification, or a Combustion Turbine Technician. If, in the event no applicants meet experience requirements, other applicants with less than three years experience may be considered. Applicants are required to be recognized as an accredited high pressure, high temperature steam power plant operator or a qualified combined cycle plant control room operator.
Passing score on the EEI test consistent with position being pursued.
Fitness for duty, physical requirements and medical status consistent with position being pursued.
Applicants must demonstrate: Leadership, accountability, self-motivation, ability to make decisions, good written and oral communication skills, and ability to work independently and as a team member.
Supervision Received:
Trainees are under the direct supervision of the site management designee who will make work and training assignments and review the work for adequacy. The trainee must be able to work independently of direct supervision to perform duties of the position they can safely perform.
Supervision Over Others:
May direct the work of others as required.
