Job Summary:
The Recovery Specialist serves the Credit Union as the primary specialist for accounts that have been sent to outside collection attorneys and related activities to these accounts. An individual in this role will also spend a significant portion of their time actively engaged in making outbound telephone calls and preparing letters to solicit loan payments on past due accounts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sends Collection Accounts to designated collection attorneys
- Approves invoices and request payment within 15 days of receiving invoice from attorney (Invoices are regarding legal work that outside attorneys have performed for the Credit Union)
- Makes outbound phone calls to solicit loan payments
- Performs accounting functions such as entering accounting entries in end-of-month reports and produces end- of-month reports. Balances 5-6 accounting ledgers for Collections/Accounting Departments
- Takes inbound phone calls related to Collections accounts
- Maintain knowledge of branch operations by completing Deposit Regulation and Product and Service Certification courses.
- Proactively demonstrate the TVFCU core values of integrity, honesty, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, accountability and strong relationships in every interaction with members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational and Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's Degree in Accounting preferred
- Prior Collections experience is preferred
- High degree of attention to detail
- Proven skills in performing business math calculations and basic accounting functions
- Proven skills in utilizing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Must have strong communication skills and possess a high level of interpersonal skills to discuss financial situations in a tactful manner.
