Qualifications: Master’s Degree in counseling/therapy or closely related field is required. Preference given to parents/caregivers or family members of children with SED. Non-profit organization experience and work history within child serving systems, (especially Juvenile Justice) also strongly preferred. This position will be embedded within TriStar Skyline Medical Center
Skills & Knowledge:
- Willingness to partner with a Family Support Specialist (FSS) to provide a team-based approach to services.
- Willingness to be trained in any evidenced based therapeutic models.
- Knowledge of the developmental, mental, emotional, relational, and social needs of children.
- Knowledge of and experience working with juvenile justice, educational, and other child-serving systems.
- Knowledge of how to develop family-driven and strength-based treatment/behavior plans with families.
- Knowledge of and experience working with children who have mental health and/or behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge of system of care/wraparound principles/practices.
- Knowledge and experience with child and adolescent development, including trauma informed care, child-serving systems.
- Excellent organizational, written, communication and problem-solving/creative thinking skills.
- Excellent collaboration, customer service, and leadership skills.
- Be knowledgeable and sensitive to the culture of the youth and family and effectively convey that to team members.
- Ability to travel, access to reliable transportation and current auto insurance required.
- Access to reliable home internet service required.
Duties & Responsibilities/Principal Activities:
- Completes Strengths-Based Assessments (CANS, ACES, CGSQ or additional assessments at intake and discharge,) and Individual Treatment Plan in collaboration with the youth, family, and Family Support Specialist (FSS) to identify strengths and needs.
- Works as a team with the Family Support Specialist to ensure coordinated service delivery and at least weekly face-to-face contact with family/youth.
- Provide individual, family and group therapy as identified and clinically determined.
- Provide training to Detention Staff as needed to provide mental health support to those children/youth within the facility.
- Attends court/CFTMs and communicates with Youth Service Officers regarding youth/families’ participation in services and progress in completing goals established to address issues contributing to court involvement/delinquent charges.
- Assist FSS in identifying community resources and helping family engage with resources that will sustain family’s progress beyond discharge from JJR program.
- Available during work hours for crisis support and assist in creating a crisis plan for 24/7 support.
- Availability to work outside of the general operating hours to meet the needs of the family/youth.
- Documents progress, safety plan, treatment plan, etc. and enter into the EHR.
- Complete transition plan/discharge summary.
- Ensure client information is secured consistent with HIPAA requirements.
- Participate in job related trainings as assigned.
- Ensure that we conform to CARF standards applicable to the services provided.
- Other duties and/or tasks as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance is required.
