General Summary:
The Intern will go through a comprehensive training program around the sales and catering detailing of a full-service hotel property. It is the Intern’s job to work effectively with customers and Sales Team Leads while completing projects timely and effectively. The Intern will become proficient in the areas of Sales, Catering, Marketing, Guest Services and Events.
Essential Functions:
Sales, Catering & Marketing
- Phone and internet prospecting
- Set appointments for the sales team
- Research clients of competitors in and around the Bloomington/Normal area
- Maintain social media posts on multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest
- Work alongside of all Sales and Catering Managers on various projects to become well rounded on all industries we have as clients
- Will plan, organize and execute a sales blitz for the entire sales department to go on
Scope of Responsibility:
- Any changes or others that may apply as dictated by Corporate Director of Hospitality
- Schedule may include some evenings and weekends.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
- Working knowledge of the hotel and its services and amenities available
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, requiring excellent time management skills and self-motivation
- Ability to identify and acquire new business
- Ability to fully follow Team Lead’s directions
Qualification Standards
Communication:
Ability to exchange routine information in an appropriate manner. Ability to read and speak the English language and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate professionally with guests, team members, team leads, and others as required for optimum operation of the property.
Education:
Preferred: Pursuing a College Degree in Business, Sales/Marketing or Hospitality
Computer Skills:
Operate and utilize company equipment including: company cell phone, company computer to access e-mail and research prospects and clients, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software
Experience:
Preferred: Sales experience or other work in the Hospitality industry
Licenses or Certificates:
Valid Illinois State Driver’s License in order to drive a vehicle. Or ability to be able to travel to clients and prospects when needed.
Appearance:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance, including hair color.
Physical Requirements

- Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
