Responsibilities
- Azure SQL Database Administration: Administer, maintain, and optimize databases hosted on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
- Database Design and Development: Collaborate with development teams to design, develop, and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
- Azure Integration: Leverage your expertise in Microsoft Azure to manage and optimize cloud-based SQL databases and related services.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and proactively address performance issues, query optimization, and capacity planning to ensure optimal database performance.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
- Security: Enforce security best practices and policies to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues promptly, providing 24/7 support as needed.
- Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and processes to streamline database administration tasks.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all database systems, configurations, and processes.
- Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and apply patches and updates as necessary.

- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Microsoft Azure certification. Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
- 7-10 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Database Administrator, including experience with database design and administration.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and related Azure services.
- Proficiency in T-SQL scripting and query optimization.
- Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning for SQL databases.
- Knowledge of database security best practices and experience with implementing security measures.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell or other relevant languages.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions for SQL Server.
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
