Data Scientist

Our client, a Fortune 100 Credit Union, is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join their team on an initial contract basis. This hybrid role, based in Vienna, VA, requires on-site presence two days per week. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing, developing, and optimizing data analytics solutions using SQL and NoSQL technologies. Key responsibilities include analyzing complex datasets to uncover actionable insights, creating intuitive dashboards with advanced visualization tools, and deploying data science solutions utilizing Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure. This role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to data governance and process improvement initiatives.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and must work on a W2 basis (C2C is not permitted). We can only accept US Citizens, GC HOLDERS, GC EAD, TN VISAS.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize data analytics processes leveraging both SQL and NoSQL technologies across all phases of development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Analyze large-scale, complex numerical and textual datasets to uncover trends and actionable insights.
  • Create and maintain intuitive dashboards using advanced visualization tools to present insights to diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, machine learning engineers, and visualization experts, to deliver high-impact projects.
  • Develop and deploy data science solutions leveraging on-premises systems and Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure.
  • Contribute to process improvements, data governance, and the establishment of best practices in data analytics.

Requirements

  • Candidates are required to be legally authorized to work in the United States without a sponsoring employer indefinitely. We can only accept US CITIZENS, GC EAD, GC HOLDERS, TN VISAS.
  • This is a W2 Contract so candidates are required to work on W2 because we CAN NOT do C2C arrangements.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in data analysis, SQL / Python programming, and developing visualizations using Plotly Enterprise or Power BI.
  • Strong expertise in database design, data mining, and data modeling principles.
  • Proficiency in cloud computing platforms and infrastructure, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with ETL processes, data integration methodologies, and pipeline optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to create impactful data visualizations and interactive dashboards tailored to various audience levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Expertise in Python, Jupyter Notebook, Jupyter Lab, Visual Studio Code, and similar frameworks for large-scale data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, including clustering, classification, and regression models.
  • Proficiency in developing and configuring API endpoints for complex data pipelines.
  • Experience implementing data governance principles as part of data ingestion and processing workflows.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps or similar project management systems.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and their application to data analysis.
