ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer Intern who will support the design and installation review for various project types. You will get exposure working on renovation design that is tied to the DoD or GSA projects. This is a paid summer internship lasting 10-12 weeks.
The preferred candidate will have a thorough, but introductory, understanding of the activities listed below for the design and construction of fire protection and life safety systems:- Evaluate, plan, and specify fire suppression water supplies and fire extinguishing systems.
- Evaluate, plan, and specify special hazard suppression systems.
- Evaluate, plan, and specify fire alarm and mass notification systems.
- Estimate construction activities and installation for fire protection systems.
- Perform fire hydrant flow tests.
- Perform code analysis for life safety and fire protection systems.
- Conduct acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
- Create detailed automatic fire sprinkler systems drawings.
- Create detailed fire pump layout drawings.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for automatic fire protection systems.
- Perform building code and life safety analysis.
- Evaluate and plan fire alarm and mass notification systems.
- Perform peer reviews of systems designs and specifications.
- Participate in project meetings with clients and other professionals.
- Travel to Client locations as needed.
- Efficiently Utilize AutoCAD, REVIT, and Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in Fire protection engineering or a related field
- Must be within two years of completing the degree
- AutoCAD knowledge a plus
- Fire protection design knowledge
- Fire protection engineering knowledge
- Fire protection system knowledge
