ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Project Scientist to lead technical support for environmental investigation and restoration projects, fieldwork, investigation results reporting, site characterization, site restoration, feasibility studies, subcontractor oversight, work plans, monitoring and tracking project metrics, overseeing deliverable schedules, providing technical reviews, applying quality assurance and quality control checks, and maintaining and updating environmental databases. The Project Scientist coordinates with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and internal staff.
Job Functions:
- Leads projects from inception to completion, including data collection and management, project documentation, field sampling, site assessment activities, and technical report writing.
- Develops technical fact sheets, briefings, and programmatic status reports.
- Interacts directly with Client to manage environmental project tasks.
- Prepares proposals and cost estimates for projects and may schedule project staff as a task or project leader.
- Directs teams for field investigations that include well drilling and installation, environmental investigations, and remediation efforts at various project locations.
- Leads field sampling teams to complete long-term monitoring activities, including groundwater sampling and site inspections.
- May provide technical supervision or guidance to lower-level Environmental Scientists.
- Travels to client and project sites as needed.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or an equivalent field that meets Professional Geologist (PG) registration requirements
- 7-10 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and meet clients' service expectations and requirements
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
- Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including logical thinking, attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel
Preferred Education and Experience
- Licensed Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE)
- Prior Federal and DoD experience
- 40-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and annual refreshers
- 8-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) HAZWOPER Supervisor.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Industry Outreach Safety Certification
