What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Manager position at Terminal Investment Corporation (TICO)?
TICO is an equipment solutions company that has been in business since 1946. TICO owns and operates a fleet of over 1500 terminal tractors and trailers deployed in major U.S. ports. Our company is a well-established Terminal Tractor leasing company looking for mechanically inclined people to take care of our terminal tractors.
SUMMARY
Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities required of the Maintenance team to deliver the highest levels of customer service in the most cost-effective manner while ensuring adherence to the TICO standard operating procedures. This position requires someone that can manage the facility/employees and perform the duties of a Class A Mechanic simultaneously. Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatic systems is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Professionally, efficiently and cost effectively manage and maintain the operational readiness of the
terminal fleet.
- Enforce, and maintain safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures in order to comply with laws
and regulations.
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of records, files and maintain required documents.
- Monitor parts room to ensure adequate supply, inventory control and replenish parts as needed.
- Work extended hours as needed or when deadlines must be met.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Cummins, Solomon, and Internet/Outlook).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current/valid driver’s license, TWIC Card and forklift operator certification.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS SKILLS
This position is a significant contact between the Company and its customers. Tact and communications skills are necessary to perform the position successfully. A minimum of five years of supervisory experience is required.
