Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent
Terra Site Constructors, dba Terra Constructs currently has an opportunity available for an experienced Construction Superintendent to support the Heavy Civil division. The superintendent will be accountable for daily coordination and direction of projects in a safe, budget conscious manner. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all field operations for heavy civil construction projects, with a primary focus on structural concrete.
- Manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion of key milestones.
- Enforce safety policies and OSHA regulations, fostering a culture of job site safety.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Review project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Supervise field crews, assign tasks, and provide guidance on construction methods and best practices.
- Monitor quality control and conduct inspections to ensure structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.
- Identify potential risks and implement proactive solutions to mitigate delays and cost overruns.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and documentation of project progress.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and address concerns as they arise.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with an emphasis on structural concrete.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure projects such as bridges, highways, tunnels, and water treatment facilities.
- Strong knowledge of concrete construction techniques, formwork, rebar installation, and finishing processes.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., Procore, HeavyJob) and construction management tools.
- Strong understanding of construction safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with heavy equipment operations and excavation.
- Previous experience with government or DOT projects.
