Position Overview: As our Fiber Troubleshooter you will be essential in identifying and resolving issues related to fiber optic networks. Your role in troubleshooting problems with fiber optic cables, connections, and equipment will ensure the smooth operation of telecommunications and data transmission systems. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical knowledge, hands-on experience, industry certifications and the drive to push our team to the next level.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic test to assess the performance and integrity of fiber optic links, including measuring signal strength, decrease and optical loss.
- Analize data by interpreting test results to determine the cause of network problems, such as fiber cuts, bends or damaged connectors.
- Conducting repairs and working alongside our splicers to restore connectivity and eliminate signal disruptions.
- Identify network issues utilizing ODTRs and power meters to locate faults, breaks or signal degradation in fiber optic cables.
- Ensuring that the fiber optic installations and repairs meet industry standard and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician / Splicer
- Fiber Optic Technician certification from FOA or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, components, and equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, light sources and splicing equipment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with keen attention to detail.
- A willingness to embrace a fast-paced environment with a dedication to excellence.
- Ability to obtain OSHA 10
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, these are essential for identifying and resolving issues in the fiber optic network.
- Previous underground utilities installation experience is a plus.
