Landscape Designer

TERRA Engineering is looking for a Landscape Designer who is enthusiastic, creative, and ready to begin their career.

Summary/Objective: Responsible for assisting the Project Managers and Landscape Architects in the preparation of schematic and construction documents of landscape designs. Complete the preparation of plan sets to include construction documents, ordinance compliance specifications, graphic layout for project presentations, plant selection and field supervision of landscape work.

Essential Functions

• Develop landscape designs for such projects as parks and recreational facilities, highways, hospitals, schools, land subdivisions, and commercial, industrial, and residential sites
• Perform computer software applications to generate schematics, cost estimates and calculations for projects. AutoCAD software knowledge required.
• Help lead the production of digital application in 3D rendering, modeling and design software
• Develop landscape designs that meet codes and requirements while being sensitive to the environment
• Develop solutions for construction problems in coordination with the various relevant departments
• Applies current landscaping concepts, practices and design elements to the various projects
• Perform site inspection of landscape elements, performs site observation and completes necessary reports and associated logs as required
• Responsible for development of typical landscape rough designs, working on construction drawings, specifications, and determining quantity take-offs for cost estimates involved in the project
• Perform field investigation to guide the Landscape Architect in development of final plans
• Perform field construction observation duties as needed
• Performs other duties as required by Department Managers and Landscape Architects
• Execute with review of PM project execution for complete and accurate submittal

Education/Experience/Skills

• B.S. in Landscape Architecture, or equivalent minimum
• 0-2 years of experience
• Knowledge of landscape terminologies, practices, policies and ordinances
• Knowledge of midwestern plant materials, techniques, and identification
• Working or practical knowledge of construction industry preferred
• Experience using Adobe suite, AutoCAD software proficiency
• Proficient applying Lumion 3D or similar graphic software applications
• Desire to pursue and complete LARE licensure in landscape architecture (5 yrs)
