Position Summary
Terral RiverService, Inc. is looking to hire a Safety and Compliance Manager for its Canal Division. This role will be based out of the Channelview office.
Essential Functions
This job operates in a professional office environment with weekly field work. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 10 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while providing logistics back-up every other weekend.
Travel
Some travel is expected for this position

Title: Safety and Compliance Manager- Canal

Position Summary
Terral RiverService, Inc. is looking to hire a Safety and Compliance Manager for its Canal Division. This role will be based out of the Channelview office.
Essential Functions
- Leads the Canal Safety Department by providing technical expertise, while focusing on continuous improvement and proactive management of company-wide safety policies, practices, and culture
- Provides oversight and tracking of all training programs
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and acts as a contact with regulatory agencies
- Directs vessel compliance to hold valid Certificate of Inspections (Subchapter M)
- Document control of required USCG and SMS documentation
- Performing inspections, internal audits and set up external audits as needed.
- Manage Sire Program & OCIMF responses
- Manage Canal TSMS
- Manage TMSA
- Manage Vessel Response Plans
- Responding to incidents on vessels and performing all required test, correspondence and reporting to the appropriate authorities
- Investigating incidents, applying root cause, and developing corrective action plans
- Helps coordinate loss control activities
- Enforces drug and alcohol policies and program
- Coordinate periodic emergency drill evaluations
- Develops, records, and tracks safety performance metrics
- Occasionally represent the company at industry related events/meetings
- Manage monthly logistics reports for customers
- Provide back up for Marine Scheduling
- Manage logistics every other weekend and provide vacation coverage
- Maintain relationships with liquid customers
- Address customer concerns/issues
- Entertain customers as needed
- Work on a team to improve Logistics, M&R, and Compliance systems
- Vet marine vendors including, towing, fleeting and ancillary service companies
- Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
- Project Management and Organizational Skill
