Position Summary:
The Director/Senior Director, DMPK will be responsible for leading the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) team, guiding the strategy and execution of DMPK studies from early discovery through clinical development for small molecule drugs. This role requires a deep understanding of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism, and bioanalytical methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the DMPK team, providing strategic direction and oversight to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of DMPK data.
- Develop and implement DMPK strategies that align with Terremoto’s drug discovery and development objectives.
- Collaborate within project teams and across other functional groups including medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, CMC, pharmacology, toxicology and clinical
- Oversee the design, execution and interpretation of in vitro, in vivo, and in silico DMPK studies including robust assessment of ADME properties, transporters, human PK and dose projections, PK/PD relationships and drug-drug interaction potential.
- Provide expert interpretation of DMPK data and present findings to project teams, senior management and external stakeholders.
- Guide the development and validation of bioanalytical methods for the in vivo quantification of drug candidates and metabolites.
- Responsible for reviewing BA and TK reports from nGLP and GLP tox studies.
- Prepare and review DMPK sections for regulatory submissions (IND, IMPD, etc) and other relevant documents for clinical development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with CROs, consultants and other external partners to enhance DMPK resources and capabilities.
- Supervise and mentor members of the DMPK team.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of small molecule DMPK experience within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry with a proven track record of leading DMPK efforts.
- In-depth knowledge of DMPK principles, including ADME, PK/PD modeling, dose projections and bioanalytical methods.
- Adept in the use of advanced DMPK modeling and simulation tools.
- Experience with regulatory submissions.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring scientific teams.
Education:
- PhD in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field with a focus on drug metabolism/pharmacokinetics.
* The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in South San Francisco, CA is $225,000 to $240,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Terremoto Biosciences, is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
