POSITION SUMMARY:
Sales account manager selling automotive components and systems to OEM, Tier, OES and Aftermarket customers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Automotive account management at assigned accounts.
- Win new business at assigned accounts.
- Support existing business as a means to achieve new business.
- Gain deep expertise to an application engineering level for all assigned products.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers and principals.
- Gain deep understanding of customer’s systems, structure and organization to maximize sales.
- Become essential and valuable to all principals.
- Identify, communicate and help implement strategies to overcome potential impediments to winning new business.
- Provide feedback on customer quotations and other communications.
- Work closely with all areas of the customer (Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Management).
- Work closely with all groups of the principal (Sales, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Management).
- Assist in collection of customer receivables.
- Manage the commercial interface with the customers including quotations, engineering change management, productivity and VA/VE mandates, warranty, tooling, etc.
- Assist with management of the supplier scorecard or other applicable supplier evaluation methods and develop strategies for improvement.
- Help troubleshoot major customer issues that have an impact on the supplier/customer relationship such as program management, quality, PRR, launch, etc.
- Lead presentations at the customer including tech reviews, design feasibility analysis/reviews and quote package reviews.
- Communicate customer requirements to the program team.
- Maintain open issue matrices for program deliverables.
- Perform additional responsibilities, as assigned.
Education
Bachelor's Degree
Required Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
- Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in automotive sales, program management or engineering.
- Fluent in PC applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Work history should demonstrate problem solving, business decision-making and presentation ability.
- Self-starter, independently motivated.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
- Exposure to automotive engineering and manufacturing preferred.
- Domestic and Foreign Travel required.
