CNC Machinist Trainee

Job Overview:

DIAL Machine is currently seeking an initiative-taking student, recent graduate or an individual who has mechanical aptitude to develop and build practical knowledge and gain hands-on work experience in a manufacturing environment. The Apprentice CNC Machinist will assist with the setup and operation of a computer numerical control (CNC) machine alongside an experienced machinist to learn and develop CNC Machinist skills. They will adhere to safety and quality standards, maintain equipment and supplies, and assist with various shop activities. We have openings for part-time positions working 25-29 hours a week and full time 40 to 50 hours per week.

Essential Functions:

• Train in basic measurements, assembly, safety, blueprint reading, part processing, CNC Programing, Mastercam software, CNC Machining, Quality, and many other manufacturing processes.
• Possess some knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals.
• Operates machine tools and equipment, such as manual lathes, mills, drill presses, cut off saws, CNC milling and CNC turning equipment, learn to Rebuild tools, fixtures, and components under supervision.
• Under supervision, operates machine tools and equipment, such as manual lathes, mills, drill presses, cut off saws, CNC milling equipment, CNC turning equipment and measuring instruments.
• Clean and assemble components as required.
• Clean work areas as needed.
• Perform maintenance on machines as required.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment in all working areas.
• Repair and modify equipment with instructions from supervisor.
• Complete basic shop related duties as needed when not assigned to a specific test.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• No prior experience is required, 1-2 years in a Machine shop environment preferred
• Basic computer skills
• Desire to become a machinist
• Proficient in the use of power tools, hand tools, and tooling
• Familiarity with Fanuc controls and CNC programming a plus
• Ability to learn interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is a plus
