Job Description: Youth Direct Support Professional's (DSPs) provide support in group and individual settings at our center in Coeur d’Alene, and in the community. Client support is geared towards developing and maintaining skills and abilities to maximize potential for leading a self-directed life and integration within the community to the degree desired. Youth DSP’s follow individual client program plans under the direction of the Youth Program Supervisor to facilitate growth toward independence as well as responsible for related plan assessment, documentation, and paperwork.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Youth DSPs work with children and youth with disabilities assisting them with daily living activities, personal development, and community integration.
  • Encourage and facilitate the participation of individuals in social, recreational, vocational activities, both within the program and in the broader community.
  • Promote and teach essential life skills, including communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and self-advocacy, to enhance independence and empower individuals as defined by each client’s prescribed plan.
  • Provide person-centered approaches, positive behavior support, and principles of dignity and respect during modeling.
  • DSP staff will be accountable for the progress and development of the clients.
  • Observe and document individual progress, behaviors, and any incidents or changes in health or behavior, adhering to all confidentiality and reporting.
  • Gather information for Youth Program Supervisor that will help with the assessment process.
  • Ensures documentation is accurate, compliant, and timely for services rendered.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that respects and values diversity.
  • Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and regulations, including health and safety guidelines.

Professional Requirements:

1. High school diploma or GED.

2. Must be at least 18 years of age.

3. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and conversation.

4. First Aid and CPR certification is required to maintain employment in this position.

5. Complete at least 12 hours each year of initial and on-going training for Developmental Therapy and participant specific needs.

7. Current driver's license, current insurance, and use of operable vehicle. Plus, agree to a motor vehicle report.

8. Complete and pass a criminal history report with fingerprinting prior to employment.

9. Pass Pre-employment drug test.

Wage:

  • Starting wage $15 per hour.
  • This position is entitled to overtime when over 40 hours are worked within one work week; overtime is not expected.

Benefits:

  • If an average of 25 hours/week is worked for three consecutive months, they will be eligible for pro-rated health care benefits including medical, dental, & vision.
  • Paid holiday, sick, and vacation also pro-rated after three consecutive months of employment.
  • If working 36 hours/week or more, eligible for full benefits.
