The Role
Tesla is seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager for the Cell Manufacturing team to be part of a world-class team that is responsible for designing, building and commissioning state of the art manufacturing equipment for Tesla factories. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla. The candidate will drive the development, build and deployment of Tesla designed equipment for cell production lines in the US and abroad. This includes design validation, vendor management and strategic planning for future expansion of cell manufacturing lines by actively identifying and mitigating risks of scaling.
You will compile and communicate project status, highlight schedule risk, and develop recovery plans in the event of a project slip. You will own driving the scope, schedule, execution and cost of the project. You will spend significant time with critical suppliers and internal teams to push the project forward and achieve target milestones set for the program. Location: San Diego (CA)
*Responsibilities
* Full ownership of projects - Concept to Equipment deployment and commissioning
* Work collaboratively with all engineering stakeholders (manucturing, electrical, design, firmware, software etc.) through the various stages of the project: concept development, prototype testing, engineering design, system build, integration, and testing
* Track overall project schedule, budget and progress and share regular updates with the engineering team and executives. Ensure all long lead items are kicked off to minimize impact on program schedule and budget
* Identify dependencies on owned project with the larger program and address and inform of any changes and drive actions proactively
* Drive vendor partnership working closely with supply chain and purchasing team and ensure alignment on engineering requirements, scope, schedule and cost
* Drive requirements and solutions with all internal stakeholders such as tool install, logistics, firmware, software, controls and manufacturing engineering teams for the success of the project
* Set goals, track deliverables, identify risk and drive mitigations across all stages of the project
* Own execution and completion of multiple projects
* Continuously develop and adapt processes and methodologies to the team's needs
* Identify resource requirements and highlight gaps across various stages for all projects
* Own reports for all projects highlighting status, anticipating risks, compiling tradeoffs and mitigations to inform all levels of management within Tesla
* Ablility to support work in multiple time zones: Asia, Europe and America
Requirements
* Remain engaged, proactive and positive when faced with ambiguities and competing priorities
* Excellent presentation, information organization and communication skills
* Experience working in a fast pace environment, multi-tasking and leading cross functional teams
* Extensive experience with most of the following software tools: MS Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio)
* Able to work under pressure in the presence of stakeholders
* Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
o 5 years' of professional experience in technical program or project management or equivalent
Nice to Have
* EE degree or Experience working with PCBAs and/or PCBA CMs
* Previous vendor management experience
* Experience ramping high volume production line

$83,600 - $285,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
