Tesla's Gigafactory Nevada Factory Design team is seeking to hire an experienced BIM or VDC Engineer. This person will be directly responsible for supporting the concept, design, construction, and as-built documentation of a variety of new and retrofit manufacturing projects by coordinating design and construction models. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large, complex projects and the ability to multi-task and collaborate with several technical disciplines.

Responsibilities
- The BIM Engineer will provide both management and design skills in support of a detailed and accurate BIM model for the Gigafactory
- Responsible for the set up and maintenance of large, federated building models typically involving multiple design and engineering disciplines and manufacturing process models Projects are typically cloud-hosted and span across multiple internal and external design teams in different geographies and time zones
- Integrate the work of both the layout team and various tool-line owners working on a given project as well as coordinating the efforts of the design team using the model for planning and conceptual work
- Maintain overall accuracy & completeness of the models, physical & operational spatial coordination, and timely implementation and resolution of any issues according to an aggressive schedule
- Work with engineers, trades, and designer professionals to develop an integrated model delivery approach and lead clash detection sessions with a focus on optimizing the construction process and driving quality and value
- Introduce, support, and oversee the implementation of industry-leading BIM technology
- Identify conflicts with Architectural, Structural, and other MEP design elements and present well thought-out and cost-effective solutions
- Utilize laser scans, point clouds, and other photogrammetry data for design validation, clash detection, and as-built documentation to ensure model accuracy and identify discrepancies between design and existing conditions
- Contribute to the development and implementation of standardized BIM processes, workflows, and data management practices to improve efficiency and consistency across projects
Requirements
- Degree in Construction Management, Structural, Architectural, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in Revit and Navisworks; at least 3 years hands-on experience working with trades on construction of high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.)
- ?Advanced level knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, Navisworks/Revizto, and BIM coordination
- Proven expertise in working with workshared cloud models on Autodesk BIM360 or similar CDE applications
- Experience with scripting and/or visual programming automation tools (Dynamo and Python) is a plus
- Possess a strong understanding of laser scanning principles and techniques, with demonstrated expertise in processing and utilizing point cloud data generated from reality capture applications for BIM model development, clash detection, and quality control
- Experience with data processing and visualization techniques to extract meaningful insights from BIM data and communicate them effectively
